Wave Consulting offers support services to clients in British Columbia, Alberta, the Yukon and Washington state, with some projects of national scope. We focus on government agencies and community organizations in the social service, health, and local government sectors. The breadth of our experience covers the following fields: community health and wellness; mental health and addictions; homelessness, affordable housing and continuing care; community economic development and poverty reduction; early childhood development, child welfare, youth justice, and child and youth care, including services to children and youth with special needs; gender equality; organizational development; and arts and culture.

Some of Wave’s recent clients include:

  • City of Nanaimo Community Engagement Taskforce (2018): Worked with members of the Taskforce to design and plan a community dialogue on homelessness in Nanaimo.

  • BC Ministry of Mental Health & Addictions (2017-18): Supported the Minister’s provincial consultation towards the development of a new mental health and addictions strategy for BC. Included: recommending potential stakeholders in communities across the province, supporting process design, session facilitation and reporting.

  • Vancouver Island Mental Health Society (2017-18): Facilitated a strategic planning process with the board and leadership team. Also engaged the team in a full-day strategic communications workshop to articulate consistent messaging around the work VIMHS does and everyone left feeling empowered to champion the important work of VIMHS.

  • Pacifica Housing (2018): Facilitated a strategic planning process with the board and leadership team.

  • Community Action Initiative (CAI) (2018): Facilitated a full-day conference for community-based organizations participating in the Overdose Prevention & Education Network (OPEN) Project.

  • FOUNDRY (2017): Facilitated a strategic planning process with the Foundry Central team.

  • The Kettle Society (2013-18): Wave has provided strategic and operational planning support to the Kettle for over 5 years. This work has included program articulation of all Kettle programs, a developmental evaluation project and fund development planning.

  • Ministry of Children and Family Development - Child & Youth Mental Health (MCFD)(2017): Facilitated a two-day engagement forum towards the development of a new service framework to be used across the Ministry.

  • MPA Society (2017): Facilitated a strategic planning process with the board and leadership team.

  • Rural & Remote Division of Family Practice (2017): Performed a community needs assessment which included: online surveys for parents and youth; key informant interviews with local service providers; and facilitation of parent focus groups and planning workshops with the Local Action Team in order to clearly understand the current service usage and needs of children and youth on Gabriola regarding mental health and substance use.
